- 16-0 Gonzalez cried in the ring after losing this bout, feeling he had won. In fact the punch count was similar between Pascal and Gonzalez, with one key difference. Gonzalez missed several hundred punches most of which were slipped by the defensive Pascal. This gave the effect of Pascal appearing to throw fewer punches but scoring with the more effective blows. Neither man was hurt. As all three judges saw the bout the same way, the great number of punches missed by Gonzalez proved the key difference. The TV commentators felt Gonzalez won. Pascal eyed a Sergey Kovalev rematch.
