Eatman proved no opposition for Marciano, according to the Providence Journal. Marciano scored a nine-count knockdown in the 2nd round with a series of short shots that were preceded by a terrific left hook to the body. Marciano hit Eatman with a hard right in the 3rd round, and Eatman went down after that, though it didn't appear he was hit. Eatman laid out as if to be counted out, and his corner entered the ring expecting the end. The referee ordered Eatman's corner out of the ring, and the bout continued. Marciano ended the bout with a right hook to Eatman's jaw.
