• The Taller Tapia cut off the ring, trapped Caputo Smith into a corner, and nailed with power head shots till he went down after taking an immediate brutal beating. Caputo Smith beat the count, but the referee stopped the bout over Caputo Smith's objections.

• Caputo Smith had failed a Nevada physical where he was scheduled to appear on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao undercard in Las Vegas. Caputo Smith had knee surgery in early 2015 and claimed full recovery, however his mobility was not the same as he was as a fighter before his knee issues.
