Alex Guerrero 198 lbs lost to Brian Howard 196 lbs by TKO at 1:53 in round 1 of 8

Referee: Harvey Dock

TIme: 1:53 of the first round

In the main event of a nine bout card at Resorts New World Casino, promoted by DiBella Entertainment and New Legend, former cruiserweight contender Brian Howard returned to the ring with a first round knockout over undefeated Alex Guerrero. Howard, in the gym for a year working with the new team of Elvin Thompson, Harold Neal and Ofa Donaldson, came forward right away and engaged Guerrero in technical jab exchanges. At some point, Guerrero stood in front of Howard and tried to crowd him from throwing jabs, looking to counter anything Howard might throw, lacking defense. Howard landed a straight right with power to the head of Guerrero, sending him to the canvas. Guerrero beat the count and got another chance, but still appeared badly hurt and his legs were gone. Howard immediately came forward when the bout continued and landed a flurry of power shots on Guerrero, who pitched backwards off the ropes to the canvas down and out. The outcome did not appear to be an upset. In the post fight interview, Howard stated he was interested in a rematch with Harvey Jolly, a bout he took on short notice unprepared several years ago. Howard also expressed an interest in fighting former USBA cruiserweight champion Garrett Wilson.
