Jimmy McLarnin beat Freeman Black by KO in round 3 of 10

  • Date: 1927-05-06
  • Location: Coliseum, San Diego, California, USA
  • The fight was quiet for much of the first two rounds, until McLarnin opened up with four consecutive hooks near the end of the 2nd round. In the 3rd, McLarnin continued throwing the left hook to the head, mixed in with the left hook to the body. After taking three left hooks from McLarnin, Black was looking for one to the body when he was clipped with a fourth one to the chin. Black went down and rolled to his knees at five, but took the full ten count, as he rose after it's completion.
