- Trained by Jerry Capobianco, rising light heavyweight prospect Irish Joe Smith Jr., in the best performance of his career to date, outpointed the shorter and more experienced Will Rosinsky by coming forward with pressure and outworking him. Rosinsky had a good defense, he just was not throwing enough punches to win rounds after the first round or two, and he did not change his game plan. Rosinsky held a lot during the contest to go the ten round distance. Both fighters appeared in top condition, and neither fighter was hurt. Not a close bout. Scoring, which went for Joe Smith Jr. three different ways, appeared neutral and fair.
