Steffeny, never before KO'd, was a last-minute replacement for Warren Holland, who was refused permission to fight because of a fever. Reynolds dropped Steffeny for a nine count in the 2nd round with a left hook to the midsection. Steffeny came back fighting but Reynolds floored him again at the close of the round.
