Bunch knocked Conn down in the 7th round. The Dayton Daily News thought that Bunch landed the harder blows, but that he was outlanded by Conn three-to-one. Conn had all the better of the bout prior to the knockdown, but was forced to hang on after that. The Dayton Herald felt that Bunch had done enough to earn a draw.
