- The Julius Long corner objected to the technical decision for Graham. The head clash happened earlier in the bout. Long opened up the cut with a punch later.
- Graham, undefeated in last 12, was inactive from December 2002 to April 2012 when he won the New South Wales State Heavyweight title. Graham said after the bout he would welcome a rematch.
- Long, at 7'1", perhaps the tallest to fight for a version of the world heavyweight title, along with 7'0" WBA World champion Nicolai Valuev.
- Long, at 285 pounds, second heaviest to fight for a version of the world heavyweight title. Nicolai Valuev had a weight range of 312-348 pounds. Short fat 'Two Ton' Tony Galento weighed only 233 pounds when he fought Joe Louis for the title.
- Long's previous three opponents had a combined record of 39-0 and Long came into this WBF world title bout on a win.
- Long, at age 38, and Long, age 40, two of the oldest to fight for a version of the world heavyweight title. Long probably the only fighter with a losing record to fight for it at 17-19.
