The fight ended with Gibson "flat on his face" (according to The Ring), but Moore was ruled to have fouled him. The Washington Star reported that Moore had landed low blows in the 2nd and 3rd round that had cost him points with the referee. Moore struck low again in the 4th round, and this time Gibson could not continue. The Washington Star felt that Moore had won the first three rounds.
