  • In the Spike TV ten round main event televised in Atlantic City, the first boxing event at the Taj Mahal in six years, Caparello dropped Dirrell with a left hook in a corner for a 10-8 round in the second. However, Dirrell appeared to win all of the other rounds in the ten rounder on points, outboxing Caparello technically by landing jabs and outworking him. Caparello was game, trying to counter, and landing a punch every once in awhile, mostly on the defensive throwing wild haymakers looking for a big shot-to no effect. The fight was somewhat ugly, with Caparello holding and headlocking when he could, and Dirrell pushing off Caparello at times, bullying him while pressing him tightly with his forearm on the ropes.
  • Scoring appeared neutral and fair. Caparello lost the third round 10-8 by giving the round away, settling on the ropes, and taking a rough beating.
  • Australian contender Caparello entered the ring with his eyes and face appearing somewhat swollen from his sparring with New Jersey southpaw Derrick Webster in preparation for Dirrell. Despite the swelling, Caparello made no excuses, having trained hard for this bout, and he tried to win.
