Jones battered Tierney in the 5th round, and had him down nearly for the count, as he barely got up, making it to a squatting position as ten was nearly tolled. Jones appeared to be cruising to victory, when in the 6th, Tierney nailed him with a right to the jaw for a nine-count. Jones battered Tierney in the 10th, to close any hopes of Tierney earning the nod.
