Bout Summary

"Ruben Olivares made his featherweight debut Saturday night and demonstrated how the extra weight had improved his punch as he stopped Walter Seeley of New York, in the 2nd round of a scheduled 10 rounder. After a slow start of prodding one another in the 1st round, Olivares landed three successive rights to stagger Seeley before the bell. Olivares answered the second bell and quickly had Seeley in trouble again with a straight right and the New York fighter fell against the ropes as Olivares landed a short left buckling Seeley's knees. Referee Dick Young wisely stepped in and stopped the fight 1:22 into the 2nd round." - Pasadena Star-News.

  • This bout, one of two 10 rounders (the other being the Bobby Chacon v Chucho Castillo bout), was part of the undercard to the WBA bantamweight championship fight between Romeo Anaya and Rogelio Lara.
