  • Referee Shada Murdaugh stopped the bout and gave it to Benevidez seemingly without reason during a most competitive round. Ntetu was holding often, and was behind on the cards. The exchanges were nonetheless good by both fighters. The ringside doctor did examine Ntetu's eyes but didn't find anything. Murdaugh stopped the bout during a competitive exchange of punches by both fighters. Nothing was apparently wrong with Ntetu from a ringside perspective. However, perhaps the referee saw something and was concerned for the fighter's safety.
