In the main event of an eight bout card at Sands Events Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, promoted by Premier Boxing champions and King's Promotions on USA Fox Sports, super featherweight Edner Cherry won a unanimous ten round decision over Haskell (aka Lydell) Rhodes in a crossroads bout to determine a 130 pound world title challenger. Rhodes won the first round by outboxing Cherry, landing a lead left hand power shot to the head to open the round which put Cherry on the defense. But those opening fireworks bore little resemblance to the remainder of the fight, which was very chippy and sloppily fought, especially by Cherry, who swung and missed over the top of Rhodes's head incessantly for virtually the entire fight. There were hundreds of clinches, making a rough night for referee Gary Rosato. After the bout, Cherry, who threw more punches, claimed Rhodes stuck to his game plan because he hoped to catch him off guard, but it never happened. Rhodes, who landed more punches, felt he won the bout. Both the fan scoring shown on the broadcast and the FS1 broadcast team generally had Rhodes winning by a wide margin of 9-1 or 8-2 in rounds, though one of the three broadcasters thought that Rhodes won, but that it was closer than the other opinions.
