- Unanimous decision. Berridge took a huge swelling and beating to the right side of his face, and could not penetrate the defensive wall of Alvarez. Considering Berridge took the bout on short notice as a replacement for Chad Dawson, Berridge went the distance and gave a good accounting of himself. Alvarez became the mandatory challenger for WBC world light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson with this win, who knocked out Thomas Williams Jr. on the same card. Not a close bout. Two neutral judges gave New Zealand's Berridge two rounds.
