Gonzalez was originally scheduled to face mexican legend Jorge "Maromero" Páez, But Páez had to pull the fight out due to an illness, Salido a former sparring of Alejandro González, had fought just 8 days earlier and had an excellent performance in this fight, rocking and punishing the much more experienced González, a former featherweight champion of the world most known for his victory over one of the best fighters of the 90's Kevin Kelley, Gonzalez got the nod at the end by majority desicion althought many of the observers felts that Salido deserved the desicion.
