Kermit Cintron 147 lbs drew with David Grayton 146 lbs by TD at 2:53 in round 5 of 10

  • In the 10 round welterweight preliminary to the main event, former International Boxing Federation World Welterweight champion Kermit Cintron fought to a five round majority technical draw with David Grayton.
  • Grayton warned twice for low blows, including in the fifth round.
  • Grayton dropped Cintron along the ropes with a right hand for a flash knockdown in round five. Cintron not hurt.
  • Grayon head butted Cintron leaning in, causing Cintron to blink his right eye. The ringside doctor adjudged Cintron unable to continue.
  • The bout went to the scorecards, including the fifth round when the knockdown took place. Referee ruled head butt was accidental.
  • Press unofficially had the bout 47-47 a draw, giving Cintron three rounds and Grayton two, in agreement. One judge had Cintron ahead.
  • Cintron cut above the right eyelid. Bad cut but his corner did a good job, it did not figure into the bout. Cintron left eye cut after head butt.
  • If referee Rosato had penalized Grayton one point for the two low blows and the head butt, Cintron would have won the bout on the cards.
