Ross dominated Halper, though he did not appear to be trying particularly hard, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer until the 7th round. After Halper landed some good body punches in the 7th round, Ross opened up and hurt Halper with a right to the chin. Though hurt, Halper made it out of the 7th round. Ross came out flicking jabs to begin the 8th, but as Halper began to work inside on Ross' body, Ross again went to work. Ross wobbled Halper with a left hook, and then floored him with a right hand follow-up. Halper took a nine-count on one knee, but was still hurt when he rose. Ross landed a few shots to Halper's head and the bout was stopped. Halper had been down for no-count in the 5th round, when he was caught off balance by a light right hand to the chin.
