- 8-0-1 Toledo, Ohio super middleweight prospect DeAndre Ware versus 23-30-2 Pennsylvania light heavyweight Rayco Saunders, age 42.
- Bout scheduled to go off at light heavyweight. Pittsburgh journeyman Saunders had gone the distance in pro bouts 40 times before this bout.
- Ruled Technical Draw. Saunders got busted up, cut badly in the middle of the forehead after an accidental headbutt in the first round. Referee Frank Garza stopped contest between rounds. The bout did not go two full rounds. Under Michigan rules, it is an automatic technical draw.
- Saunders fought this bout only two weeks after losing an eight round decision to Jonathan Nelson in Little Rock, Arkansas.
