McMinn - the Irish Express - got the quick kayo, using a devastating left hook to the temple to deck Hunter at the 40 second mark of the second round.

"When you're out there, you don't think about anything...you're just trying to do your job," said McMinn, winning his first fight in nine years.

"Before the fight, I was thinking both ways. It would be nice to go out and end it with the first punch or in the first minute. But I was thinking I might need to go a few rounds to test myself. I know I can go the rounds because I'm in condition."

McMinn, running his pro record to 51-8 with 46 knockouts, had dropped Hunter in the first with a double left hook.

He managed to survive the count and the rest of the first, but the end was near.

Hunter bobbed out of the way of one second round punch by McMinn. That strategy proved disastrous.

As Hunter dropped his right, McMinn responded with the left hook to the head.

"It was just reflex," McMinn said. "I saw the opening, and man, it was there...right on the temple."
