The two fought toe-to-toe until the 5th round, when Parker began to tire. Carter's left hooks hurt Parker in each of the last three rounds. Carter draped Parker over the ropes in the 7th round, and knocked him down for an eight-count in the 8th round. Parker was draped over the ropes again, when the bout was stopped.
