Russell Whalen beat Tommy O'Brien by DQ in round 6 of 10

Whalen was knocked down twice in the 2nd round, and once more in the 5th round. In the 6th round, O'Brien hit Whalen with a body shot that floored him. It was ruled a foul by the referee, who did not submit Whalen to further examination and promptly disqualified O'Brien. The Los Angeles Times disagreed with the call of the foul calling it "bull", stating that the fatal blow had been in fair territory.
