Fusari stopped Canada’s Gus Mell in the fourth round at Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Fusari survived a bad first round in which he was nearly dropped before he took charge and handed Mell a terrific beating. He hurt Mell badly in the second round and dropped him twice in the third round, the first for a nine count and the second a split-second before the bell. Mell was practically helpless coming out for the fourth. Fusari stalked him into a corner and dropped him. At the count of four, Mell’s handlers hastened into the corner, and referee Jimmy McCarron stopped the fight without counting further.
