- In the main event of an 11 bout card at Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Thomas 'Cornflake' LaManna and Gabriel 'Tito' Bracero battled a 10 round split draw. LaManna retained the World Boxing Council Fecarbox Welterweight title. the scorecards went three different ways: 97-93 Bracero; 98-92 LaManna; and 95-95 even. Bracero did best in rounds 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9, fighting a game plan to get inside and always land something. Bracero did, but many of the rounds were close. LaManna clearly won rounds 1, 4, 6, and 10, when he extended his arms and used his reach to advantage. LaManna stood 6'1" to Bracero's 5'7", a unique match up by matchmaker Russell Peltz for Rising Star Promotions. The Showboat Atlantic City reopened as a non-gaming hotel. The rooms were ready, the lobby empty, as there were no restaurants, stores, slot machines or table games, only a glow in the dark mini golf course, one lobby bar, a ping pong table and a pool table. Nonetheless the hotel sold out and the crowds packed in for two pro shows, the boxing show on the casino floor, an MMA show in an adjacent ballroom. Former world champion Paul Malignaggi provided ringside commentary as the card was broadcast live on Facebook. Both combatants emerged the bout in fine shape, though Bracero's eyes were swollen because his father was absent from his corner, and nobody iced them between rounds. Many press ringside felt Bracero won the bout. LaManna won the final round to earn the draw. If either fighter won one more round, he would have won a split decision. The vacant Noodle House Restaurant served as a dressing room for the fighters.
