The fans were evenly divided over the verdict. "Both men were badly battered at the final gong, Snell having a deep cut over his right eye and Myers having his right optic completely closed. Referee Ad Schact [sic], using the Australian system of scoring, awarded Snell five of the six rounds." Everett Daily Herald. According to the Dec. 14, 1935 Seattle Daily Times, Snell was losing the bout when he dropped his mouthpiece. As he stooped to retrieve it, Myers clipped him. Snell retaliated. "Never in Seattle ring history did any boxer get a more complete beating the rest of the way than Snell gave Myers."
