Moro dominated Gomez, winning all but the 2nd and 5th, which was even. Gomez who fought out of a crouch, was repeatedly hit with a jab when he emerged from the crouch. The Honolulu Advertiser felt that Moro was too smart, clever, and fast for Gomez.

Moro drew almost a capacity crowd, with Filipino's making up a majority of the crowd in filling the 50 cents seats.
