Walker knocked Adgie down with a left hook to the jaw. Adgie barely beat the count at nine, and was swaying unsteadily as Walker came forward to finish him. The referee stepped in front of Adgie to stop the bout. Adgie protested the stoppage, but was easily put to his stool by referee Reilly.

Adgie had come out swinging in an attempt to overwhelm Walker with his attack to start the bout.
