Ace Hudkins 174 lbs beat Dynamite Jackson 205 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1931-09-15
- Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
"A packed house of approximately 11,000 fans paid $18,000 to see Ace Hudkins win the heavyweight boxing championship of California last night. Returning to his old-time Nebraska Wildcat role with a vengeance, Hudkins conquered Dynamite Jackson to annex the crown. Hudkins won five of the ten rounds, three went to Jackson and two were even. In a dramatic climax, Jackson came within a few seconds of stopping the Wildcat with a terrific right-hand jolt to the jaw. Hudkins sagged and was virtually out on his feet when the final bell rand. Jackson was badly cut about the nose and eyes by Hudkins's jarring rights and lefts to the head. The new champion bore in from the start, swinging both hands, and continued the same tactics throughout the bout." Los Angeles Times
