Peralta gave a good account for the first five rounds, though he only won the 4th round. Williams began to pound Peralta in the 7th and 8th round, and continued his assault in the 9th round, as Peralta began to bleed and be driven into the ropes. Referee Leonard eventually stepped in, to stop the bout.
