After winning his only round of the fight, the 4th round, Conti came out slugging in the 5th round, and was dropped in the middle of the round by a left hook to the stomach, for nine. Conti returned to boxing in the 6th round, but Williams caught up with him, and dropped him for nine, with a right uppercut, and then hurt him again at the bell with three more uppercuts. In the 7th round, Conti landed several good rights that appeared to hurt Williams, according to the Allentown Morning Call. Williams went back on the attack and staggered Conti with a left hook to the chin. As Conti staggered to the canvas, Williams landed a right to the side of Conti. Conti rose at the count of nine, but the referee stopped the bout. The stoppage was confusing, as Conti's manager entered the ring to argue that Conti was fouled while hit while falling, but the referee ruled that he had stopped the bout due to Conti's condition.

Williams lost the first round, due to a low blow.
