Mobley mixed with Williams freely early in the bout, but slowed up noticeably in the middle rounds, as he clinched frequently. Williams suffered a cut over his left eye in the 7th round, possibly from a clash of heads. Williams was content to box carefully after that, protecting his cut eye.
