Sergeant Sammy Baker 147 lbs beat Oakland Jimmy Duffy 148 lbs by TKO in round 5 of 10

Duffy who was exhausted in the fifth round, grabbed Baker's right arm and refused to let go. Baker hit him with about eight left hands while this was going on, before dropping Duffy for a nine count. Duffy rose, but was in no shape to continue, and the fight was stopped. After the stoppage, Duffy slugged Baker, who in turn, picked Duffy up and threw him into his corner. Duffy was also knocked down in the 2nd round, for no count, from a right hand. Duffy had outboxed Baker in the 1st round.
