Hoppe set a fast face in the fight, winning the first four rounds, and earning an even break in the 5th. In the 2nd round, Hoppe landed a right to Callahan's jaw, that cause his knees to sag. Hoppe won the 6th round, but Callahan rallied to win the 7th, 8th, and 9th rounds. Callahan landed a left uppercut effectively in these rounds, drawing blood from Hoppe's mouth. Hoppe came back to win the 10th, landing one good right hand that slightly staggred Callahan.
