  • Yildirim entered the fight as the WBC #2 super middleweight contender.
  • An accidental seventh round headbutt eventually led to a controversial 10 round technical split decision on the scorecards. Dirrell wanted to continue. Ringside doctor ruled Dirrell's right eyebrow cut had muscle showing and stopped the bout on the headbutt.
  • After 9 rounds, Fox Sports Net unofficial scorer Marcos Villegas had Dirrell ahead 87-84. [1]
