The first four rounds were slow. Brown scored with a good right hand in the 5th round, and had Bernard retreating, while fighting defensively through the 6th round. Brown carried the 7th round, and had a strong 8th round, when he appeared to have Bernard in the most trouble he was in during the bout. Brown then gave away the last two rounds, comfortable that he had the decision secured.
