Sekyra pounded Herman to the body early and often in a one-sided bout. Herman went down for the first time in the 6th round. In the 7th round, Sekyra hurt Herman near the end of the round and sent him sagging towards the ropes. Sekyra's follow up attack sent Herman through the ropes to the ring floor. Herman appeared to be on the cusp of being counted out, when the bell rang and saved him. Sekyra quickly finished Herman at the beginning of the 8th round, dropping him in a neutral corner for the count.
