Nixon was able to hold Robinson off in the first three rounds, as he was able to drive Robinson to the ropes and score with both hands. Robinson was able to spin Nixon's head with a right in the 1st round. In the 4th round, Robinson knocked Nixon down with a left hook to the ribs. Nixon took an eight count, but Robinson floored him again with two long rights. This time the bell saved Nixon, as the count had reached eight. Nixon charged after Robinson to start the 5th round, swinging a left and right at long rage, that got Robinson to back away. Robinson then attacked Nixon to the body, but landed a low blow in the process, which led to a pause as the two shook hands. Robinson then landed a wild shot to the body, that floored Nixon again for eight. Nixon charged again after Robinson to start the 6th round, this time Robinson backed up a stride and stopped Nixon in his tracks with a left hook to the body. Robinson then landed a right to Nixon's back, that sent him down for three. Robinson landed two more punches to put Nixon down for an eight-count. As Nixon rose his right leg, an old football injury betrayed him, and the referee intervened.
