Young knocked Dado down in the opening moments of the bout with a left to the jaw. Dado landed with a thud, but rose at two, still hurt. Young however failed to land a finishing blow, as he was wild over the remainder of the round. Young worked the body in rounds three through five, and outboxed Dado as well to win these rounds. Dado came back to win the 6th round, when he hurt Young with several rights to the jaw. After an even 7th round, Dado cut Young's cheek early in the 8th round, and hurt him with two rights and a left. However, before the 8th round had ended, Young hurt Dado with a left to the jaw that sent him reeling, and in a groggy state at the bell. Dado recovered, however, and came back to win the final two rounds.
