Werther Arcelli, tall Boston welterweight, took an eight-round decision over California’s Bobby Pacho at St. Nicholas Palace last night although he fought the last two rounds with his left eye entirely closed. Arcelli piled up a commanding lead in the first five rounds. He staggered Pacho with hard rights in the second and opened a cut over his left eye with flickering lefts in the third. Pacho came back strongly, however, and in the sixth closed Arcelli’s eye with overhand rights which inflicted a deep cut. Arceli weighed 145 ½ and Pacho 148 ½. [Brooklyn Eagle]
