It was total war—easily the Fight of the Month in Japan. Katsuma caught Kobayashi with a stunning right to drop him in the eighth and forced him to take a standing eight count later in the round. The gutsy southpaw battled back and won the ninth frame. Katsuma then came back to win the 10th and 11th rounds, overwhelming Kobayashi with a flurry of blows that forced referee Ken Morita to stop the bout in the 12th.
