This match is considered a Super-middleweight fight. Pro debut for Tommy Galipeau, whom two years on would aquire a 4th spot rating in the division by the WBO [WBC rated him 27, from lh]/Chick Chiccarone and Tiny Ricci his team. Wilkinson had Publisher Bob Taylor ["The Amateur Boxer"]working his corner for this fight, along with Bob Taylor's brother-in-law, Dave Talbot. Ron Souza an area -car salesman- was the shows promoter, the show being held at The Oakdale Theater. Match was relatively close with Galipeau winning (in rounds) 2-1-1. Wilkinson cut over one eye in 2nd round, required five stitches to close later. Galipeau turning pro with the reputation of owning a one knock-down, decision win against hot-pro-protégée Sean Fitzgerald [Wilkinson - Fitzgerald II was eight-days past this]. Southington's Luigi Camputaro [ITALY & Southington, future European Flyweight champion] and Wallingford's, Sean Malone (lightweight) co-main evented.
