"Covelli punched Pine from pillar to post to earn his laurels." (The Ring, December 1938, page 58) However, Bob Soderman (who was present) said that Pine gave Covelli a great deal of trouble. "Lloyd's style was to crouch very low, popping up on occasion to land some punches. Frankie got madder and madder as the bout went on.. After the bout, in the dressing room, Covelli was still incensed at Pine (and) they exchanged heated words, and Frankie punched Lloyd on the jaw--bare-fisted-- and floored him."
