Kaiser was winning the bout, when he staggered Wilson with a hard right hand in the 6th round. Kaiser apparently hurt his hand with the punch, and was forced to fight an ineffective left-handed, jab heavy style over the remainder of the contest. These last four rounds, were enough for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to award their newspaper decision to Wilson.
