Collins knocked Lay down in the 2nd round with a left hook to the jaw, and then dropped him twice more in the 7th round. Despite the three knockdowns, Lay had built up a very large lead in the bout, as he had pummeled Collins. In the 8th, Collins knocked Lay down with a long right to the head. Lay rose at nine, before slumping back to the canvas.
