Harper appeared intimidated by Payne, and fought very cautiously. Near the end of the 1st round, he was put down by a left hook to the chin and follow-up body attack. In the 2nd round, Payne drove unsteady Harper around the ring. Payne looked to the referee to stop the bout, unsuccessfully. Eventually, Harper went down to the seat of his pants, and took the ten-count.
