The bout was fairly even, going into the 7th round. In the late stages of the 7th round, Haynesworth dropped Earling with a chopping right to the chin, for a six-count. Haynesworth was on top of Earling, to begin the 8th round, and after about a minute another right sent Earling reeling to the canvas. The referee stopped the bout at this point.
