Steele was bothered by the awkward style of Evans throughout the bout. In the 2nd round, Evans butted Steele and opened up a cut. Steele though responded with a right hand to the chin that dropped Evans for a six-count. Evans won the 4th, and had a slight edge in the 5th round. Steele won the 6th round, and had piled up enough points to win, what the Seattle Times was a close decision.
