Harry Blitman 129 lbs lost to Lew Massey 127 lbs by TKO at 1:40 in round 2 of 10

  • Date: 1929-11-18
  • Location: Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
  • Referee: Frank Floyd

The two engaged in a toe-to-toe brawl from the start. Massey appeared to hurt Blitman with a right hand to the chin with a minute left in the 1st round. Blitman came out more cautiously to start the 2nd round, Massey sensing his foes weakness, set his opponent up with a few right hands, before catching Blitman leaning in with a right to the head. Blitman went down hard, but managed to beat the count at seven. Massey went in to finish Blitman, and landed a left to the body, followed a smashing right to the head, that floored Blitman again. Blitman rose again, but in very bad shape, as the referee intervened, as Massey refused to go after his vulnerable foe.
