Flowers got off to a slow start, as Dewancker did most of the fighting in the first five or six rounds. Flowers closed Dewancker's left eye in the 8th round, and battered him around the ring in the 9th and 10th rounds. The judges disagreed, with the referee deciding the bout for Dewancker.
